Description
Reflecting on the creation of Eve, some theologians speculate that the woman comes into being in the Garden of Eden that is "cultivated" by Adam. Based on this interpretation, she is sometimes viewed as an embodiment of its beauty. On the other hand, almost all archaic religions of the world associate women with the elements of earth and water. Water corresponds to the softness and plasticity of women. The image created by Danylo Movchan hints at the element of water as a home and dwelling in which the woman lives and dwells in order to preserve her own identity. (ST)
Danylo Movchan
Danylo Movchan (b. 1979) is a Ukrainian artist who specializes in iconography, painting, and restoration. His works grace churches and private collections in Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Finland, Italy, France, Canada, and the United States. He has participated in over 90 group exhibitions and several international open-air events both within Ukraine and overseas. He has to his credit 11 solo exhibitions, three of which were international.
